we are playbase

We are an independent, voluntary organisation designing and running courses about the development of young children. Whether you're a mum, dad, carer, or early years professional, learning all about play makes life better for you and the children you look after. Our courses are also a great way to learn basic digital skills for work, life, and study.

At present, we are in the process of adapting all of our content so that it can be studied remotely. Our newest course, Digital Play, is already available online as a self-study unit - you can get started today with a specially reduced rate.

we run online courses

Our child development training ranges from introductory courses to qualifications that could help you start a childcare career. Our newest course is on Digital Play for young children and has been developed by the University of Edinburgh, in partnership with NHS Lothian, City of Edinburgh Council and Playbase.

We create a safe online space for people to learn and build their knowledge, skills and confidence. Our students can use their new skills and knowledge straightaway at home to help their children learn and play or in play settings where they work.

We offer both self-study and tutored courses online, and our locally run groups are well supported by experienced tutors.

We keep our costs low and offer special rates because we want our courses to be open to everyone

people say nice things about us

This course delivers professional information about child development. I think that parents or anyone who wants to understand and support the development of children would really benefit from this course. There is lots of flexibility in the course and the tutor is very helpful. This is a fantastic course and I have really enjoyed it! I will be carrying on to the next level.
