About us

about us

At playbase, we teach mums, dads, grandparents, carers and playworkers all about the development of young children and the value of play. Our aim is to help our students achieve and grow.

Please note that during the coronavirus situation we are operating at a reduced capacity and have suspended some activity. We have adapted our Digital Play course to an entirely online self-study format. We are working on adapting other courses and will be reviewing our provision regularly as circumstances change.

We want to help our students grow in knowledge and confidence while they learn about the development of young children. We believe that teaching people about the value of play will improve their lives and the lives of the children they care for.

Courses available when you need them, wherever you are

Our courses run online throughout the year and we price them to be affordable for everyone. We can help you get set up and guide you through our easy to use website. You can learn around your work and family commitments, knowing you have support available when you need it.

We build learning communities online, and for everyday life

Our courses are open to everyone with an interest in young children. Our courses are excitingly diverse, often attracting students from around the world. We encourage different nationalities to share their culturally diverse experiences and approaches to parenting and working with young children.

Within our website, you will have your own profile, workspace and forum. Online tutors will facilitate supportive discussion forums, connecting you to others with similar interests and life goals.

If you’re a parent or someone new to the country, our courses will also offer you a source of information and support within your new role or community. You will learn about the qualities of good nurseries. You will gain the language you need to confidently support your children at school or when speaking to your GP.

We help you learn

Our tutors help you develop your skills and grow your understanding each week, providing you with helpful feedback and directing you to further resources. The skills you learn can be applied straightaway in the home to help your children learn and play and to enhance family life.

Support where you need it

We work closely with you in response to your needs.  If you're new to learning online, we can help make it easy and enjoyable. We can offer support with language and literacy. We can also help you to plan your learning journey by focusing on what you want to get from your training.

Our courses will give you confidence

Our courses give you the chance to discuss, share and evaluate your experiences of parenting and caring. You will learn new ways to deal with the common situations of childhood. This will make you more confident and improve your relationship with your child.

You will also learn study skills which include working to deadlines and discussion skills. You will gain valuable experience in navigating a website and interacting on a digital platform.
