Looking for Board Members

Background: Playbase is a national online and classroom based training provider.  We offer training in child development and the importance of play suitable for parents, nursery and health professionals and those wishing to seek employment in a childcare setting. Our courses often offer the first step for people towards further education, training or employment. Courses provide childcare professionals with professional development opportunities.

Learning parents undergo while still caring for their very young children can be

  • applied in the home

  • increase their online confidence, digital and study skills

  • enhance their own and their child’s life chances.

Our main objective is to inform and empower participants to make positive decisions for the children in their care in line with accessible research and their own values. Courses are inexpensive, with much reduced rates for those on eligible benefits and can be classroom-based or exclusively online. With certificated opportunities, courses are also attractive and relevant both in relation to the employability agenda and to preparing men and women for work in childcare.

This summer we are launching a vibrant new course - Digital Play for Young Children - in partnership with The School of Digital Education at Moray House, Edinburgh University, NHS Lothian and the City of Edinburgh Council.

We are looking for a person to join our friendly and inclusive Board and help us to get our courses to parents, grandparents and professionals throughout Scotland. You will be organised and probably very passionate about creating change at the point of need. You might be retired or working and wanting to offer some of your time in volunteering, you may be young and wanting to gain experience in the voluntary sector, or to contribute your skills to an innovative, and cool digital charity. You will also be willing and able  to attend a minimum of 4 to 6 board meetings a year.
