Short Course - Storytelling

This short course explores traditional stories and stories by modern authors and illustrators. Students will be invited to share the stories they remember from childhood. Nursery rhymes and story games will be discussed as these bring storytelling to life. There will also be an opportunity for you to make simple finger puppets. The course as a whole shows the ways that books and storytelling help young children with speech and language development. Stories are also told through music and there will be input on musical activities. A fun and engaging course where you can learn a bit about Scottish culture and share your own!

This course is for those who are interested in telling and reading stories to children, at home or in a childcare setting.

We’ve written our course notes to make them clearer for people with language or reading needs. Our training support worker can also help you.

£40/£10* for a three week course. *The lower cost is for people who receive eligible benefits.
